Involvement[]
Gelby first appear in Level 4 in Adults mode. They appear through out the game trying to defeat Joe.
Two Gelbys also appear in the anime guarding Silvia's room, though Joe never battles them.
Strategy[]
In order to defeat a Gelby, it is necessary to get behind him because his back serves as his weakpoint. Attacks from the front have barely any effect on him. In addition, as assumed by his large, muscular build, all of the Gelby's attacks pack a wallop, being able to take off three HP in Kids mode. In higher difficulties, his attacks become faster. Fortunately, their duration is long enough for Joe to get behind him. If he throws a rock at you, then Slow before it hits to dodge it. With good timing, it is also possible to jump over his back before the throwing part of this move begins. If he pounds his chest, duck and he will jump over you and then become confused and susceptible to attack. If he draws his arm back to punch you, quickly jump over him to expose his vulnerability. When the Gelby loses sight of Joe, a yellow ? appears over his head, and he will look around, giving Joe the opportunity to take him out before he turns around.
